Practice

Practice

Our practice is our people. Our main studio is based in what was the first fire station in Morpeth, now fitted out to practice what we preach; agile workspaces set up to create the most conducive atmosphere. The main office is located in one of Morpeth’s quiet lanes in the heart of the market town, on the East Coast main line and the A1 but with a lovely balance of amenities and beautiful outdoor spaces of Carlisle Park and the riverside for rejuvenation.

Our office in Middlesbrough looks to achieve the same balance as part of the exciting Boho Zone; the digital, creative and business hub of the Tees Valley. The location benefits from collaborative spaces, indoors and out, and in close proximity of the rail and A66/A19 corridor.

We believe our success depends entirely on the quality of the relationships, the chemistry that we have with our clients, consultants and contractors that we work with. Our main priorities are to produce inspirational design whilst providing a professional and personal service.

Seymour Architecture was founded in 2009. Current directors Sarah Sabin and Andrew Bowkett are leading the practice, with many years’ experience in design, construction and management, Seymour Architecture can offer a variety of complementary services to their primary skill, architecture. Seymour Architecture can provide architectural solutions incorporating interior design, masterplanning and external realm. They support this with strong management and leadership skills with experience of project and contract management in both Traditional and Design And Build forms.

Seymour Architecture has a proven track record in a variety of sectors for clients including Highbridge Properties, Ashalls, Formica, G4S, Accenture, North Tyneside Council and Middlesbrough Council.

Projects range from new build offices, retail and housing, to refurbishment, workplace and fit-out, from the simple and small to complex and large. Regardless of project scale, complexity and budget the design ethos and approach remain consistent.

Key to this is communication and brief development, to achieve the highest quality design standards whilst delivering the client’s objectives; ensuring best value within the defined parameters and priorities. Each project is assigned the same level of dedicated resource to ensure it is as successful as the last.

Seymour Architecture are regularly appointed as lead consultant and are well versed in the effective management and coordination of the team for the duration of the project; pivotal to this is the communication and collaboration between client, consultant and contractors. As a forward-thinking company, Seymour Architecture are continuously carrying out research and development into the latest technologies and innovations for use within building design, construction and use; whether this be the latest green technology or applications for augmented reality.

With continuing advances in technologies and new methods of working many may move away from first principles however for Seymour Architecture these are enhancements to the traditional approach to architectural design, ensuring there is always a place for pen, paper and conversation.

People

Our team work collaboratively around one large bench or within the studio’s alternative workplace settings. We nurture the idea of a tight knit team who enjoy working together, who are happy coming into the office and are happy going home at the end of the day. Well-balanced with a range of complementary skills, our team share the same values, the same goals, to provide our clients with the best possible service whilst exercising the full range of their talents to create innovative, cost effective and sustainable solutions.
